Taylor Noelle and her debut EP 'Out Of My System'

Publish date: 2024-06-02

Singer-songwriter Taylor Noelle is Nashville’s latest talent offering, and we guarantee that you’ll be rushing to add her to your music playlists.

The 20-year-old from Los Angeles moved to Nashville a few years ago during her senior year of high school. She fell in love with the city and decided to stay in the area to build her music career, studying music business at Belmont University.

Taylor found herself at home within Nashville’s vibrant music community, honing her craft and connecting with other artists. This led to performances at some of the most esteemed local venues, such as The Listening Room, 3rd & Lindsley, The Country, Café Coco and at the legendary Bluebird Cafe.

With her craft and confidence growing by the minute, Taylor decided to work on her original material. On November 25, she is set to release her debut EP, Out Of My System. Inspired by Fleetwood Mac, Tori Kelly, HAIM, Sara Bareilles, Adele, among many more, Taylor’s sound is laden with catchy hooks and is full of from-the-heart honesty.

Produced by Andrew Conner, the title of her EP actually reflects how the collection of work came about in the first place. She explained, “I had all these songs that meant a whole lot to me that I just needed to get ‘out of my system’ and into the world. My vision is that there are people out there who can hear these songs about my pain and my joy and connect them to their own lives. I use songwriting to process my feelings, and I hope that my songs can help other people to do the same.”

The EP opens with strongly with ‘Too Good’, which instantly draws you in with its catchy rhythm and quirky lyrics. Taylor wrote the song with her friend estef, during a time when they’d been writing a lot of slower, sad songs. The outcome is this upbeat offering, with a chorus which packs a punch. ‘Too Good’ is a memorable track, and a great opener for Taylor’s collection.

Next up is ‘I Fall’, which Taylor has already previewed to her fans. It is an emotional ballad, a complete contrast to ‘Too Good’ but shows her versatility as an artist. The strings throughout are very effective and complement Taylor’s beautiful vocals perfectly. Speaking of the track, Taylor said: “It was a product of a rather cyclical and overwhelming situation with someone I cared very much about that I just didn’t know how to handle anymore. So, I wrote about it. I’ve lived with the song for a few years now, because I knew I wanted to do it justice and give it the moment it deserves.”

‘Won’t Waste My Time’ is the EP’s third track and is a bit of a special one, as it was the first song that Taylor ever wrote with her father. Similarly to ‘Too Good’, it has a catchy hook, and will stick in your head long after you first listen to it. We love the slowed down, jazzy part near the end too, which highlights Taylor’s vocals, before the track kicks in to its original tempo. The song was inspired by times in the singer’s life where she was the only one putting effort into relationships, but didn’t have the strength to change the situation.

To round off the EP, we have ‘Covers Me’, a soulful track written by Taylor with another friend of hers, Ashley Leone. We love the simplicity of the song at the beginning, but we also adore when the guitar truly kicks in at the one minute thirty mark, which gives the song a bit more power. Of the song, Taylor said: “It was inspired by a very particular experience walking on a beach with someone very important to me. I remember being in that place and thinking it was such a perfect moment and never wanting it to be over. This song is my attempt at capturing that moment.” We definitely feel that she’s managed to capture that perfect moment wonderfully!

Taylor Noelle is certainly a name to look out for – her soulful voice is stunning, and you can’t help but fall in love with the honest nature of the tracks. Whilst they’ve been written from her personal perspective, they are laden with thoughts and feelings we can probably all relate to.

With the launch of a debut EP, comes a celebratory gig. Taylor will be celebrating the launch of Out Of My System on December 4 at The End, Nashville. She will also be reaching out to new souls when she takes to London next Spring to explore new horizons.

We’re rooting for Taylor and we’re sure to hear much more from her in the future.
