Gary Gersh Joins AEG Live As President Of Global Talent

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Veteran manager and label exec Gary Gersh has been named to the newly created position President of Global Talent at AEG Live.

In his new role, Gersh will help to oversee the relationships between artists, their reps and AEG Live's touring and festival business, as well as regional offices.

Gersh, who most recently served as CEO of The Artists Organization (TAO), will additionally work directly with promoters and artists and their teams to develop new business opportunities in the touring and other industry-related spaces.

As TAO’s Founder, Gersh built a diverse portfolio of artists and businesses including Soundgarden, Portugal. The Man, John Legend, Lenny Kravitz, Counting Crows, Tears For Fears, Chromeo, Animal Collective, Billy Talent, Death From Above, MSTRKRFT, as well as graphic arts company Poketo and multi-faceted clothing company Imogene & Willie.

Early in his career, Gersh helped to build what became a chain of thirty record stores called, Licorice Pizza. After the chain was sold, he went to work at Capitol Records in Promotions. He then helped to start EMI America Records where he signed/worked with David Bowie, Stray Cats, John Waite, Gary U.S. Bonds, Marty Balin and J. Geils Band.

From there, he was a founding partner of Geffen Records and signed/worked with numerous successful acts including Nirvana, The Sundays, Hole, Sonic Youth, Pat Metheny, Stone Roses, Peter Gabriel, Rickie Lee Jones, Robbie Robertson and Counting Crows. Later, he returned to Capitol/Blue Note Records to become CEO and President where he helped to establish the careers of Radiohead, The Beastie Boys and Foo Fighters. In 1999 Gersh transitioned from major label executive to artist manager when he and John Silva Founded G.A.S. Entertainment Co. There he worked with Beck, Rage Against the Machine, Counting Crows, Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Tenacious D, Jimmy Eat World and At The Drive In amongst others.
