Calum Scott releases official 'Dancing On My Own' video

Former Britain’s Got Talent contestant Calum Scott has released an official music video for his version of Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’.

The singer first rose to fame on the TV talent show in 2015, auditioning with a spine-tingling version of the song. The video of his audition has since garnered over 60 million views on YouTube.

He received an automatic pass to the semi-finals after Simon Cowell pressed his Golden Buzzer. On his decision, Simon said: ” I’ve never ever in all the years I’ve done this show heard a guy with the talent you’ve got. Seriously. And the version was sensational, which shows to me that you’re more than a singer, you’re an artist and that’s why you got that (the buzzer).” The singer made it through to the live shows, finishing in sixth place overall.

Since then, Calum has received global recognition all thanks to his version of ‘Dancing On My Own’. His original, self-produced video for the song, first uploaded in 2014, has received over 23 million views. Earlier this year, Calum self released his version of the song, which has become a massive hit across Europe. He has reached the coveted number one spot in six countries and the top 20 in 20 territories. The song has also been climbing the UK charts steadily, and most recently peaked at number 27.

Calum signed to Capitol Records last month and has also been confirmed as Jamie Lawson’s support act for his UK tour later this year. Earlier on today, Calum treated fans to an official video for ‘Dancing On My Own’, which has been uploaded through his Vevo account.

Calum is further proof that you don’t need to win a TV talent show in order to make waves in the music industry. Speaking of his success, Calum said: “When I recorded Dancing On My Own in my bedroom, I never thought for a second that it would reach as far as it has and bring this level of support from literally all over the globe. I’m completely overwhelmed by it all, so excited about the next chapter because there is so much to come!”
